Benicia Fastpitch runs on volunteers!
Whether you like to be behind the scenes or in the middle of the action, we could always use your help. Available volunteer opportunities may vary but we can always use your help throughout the season.
If you are interested in becoming a manager, please fill out our volunteer opportunities form. Managers and coaches will be selected by the Benicia Fastpitch executive board and notifications will be made in January. We’re often fortunate enough to receive more individuals seeking manager and coach positions than we have teams. If we are unable to assign you a team, we can still use your help in many other areas.
If you are planning on working with the players in any way (Managing, coaching, Team parent, Snack Shack, Helping at practices, etc...)
You will be required to take a background check and pass the Ace Certification (detailed information below). The total cost will be approximately $30.
***EACH TEAM CAN HAVE UP TO (4) BACKGROUND CHECKS & ACE CERTIFICATIONS REIMBURSED BY THE TREASERER PER SEASON***
WE APPRECIATE YOUR WILLINGNESS TO VOLUNTEER!
Question: How can I help?
Answer: Become a volunteer. We are always looking for help in all areas including field duty and events planning.
Question: Am I required to volunteer?
A: Each team needs volunteers and your support is key to ensuring a successful league for the team. Your fees do not pay any salaries – we are all volunteers! Here are positions you may consider: Review and make sure this is applicable to your group…
- Manager: Total administrative and operational responsibility for your team.
- Head Coach or Assistant Coach: Primary role is to teach the girls and assist the Manager
- Team Parent: Administrative right arm of the Manager ensuring that non-operational tasks required are supported and that the league communication loop is open to all parents.
- Chaperone: Assist the Manager in the dugout area during games and be responsible to ensure the welfare of the girls.
- Scorekeeper: Maintain the game records for the team and ensure that the game publicity provides recognition to both individual girls as well as to the team (training available)
- Field Prep: Drawing baselines and equipment set-up/storage (training available)
Question: What does a Team Parent do?
Answer: The team parent is the liaison between the manager and the other parents. The team parent helps the manager with distribution of uniforms, calling parents, planning team parties and coordinating the team snack scheduling.
Question: I want to manage a team, how do I apply?
Answer: You must fill out a manager interest application and indicate that you would like to manage a team. This will allow the “Player Representative” to arrange for interviews of all prospective Managers. The link for the manager interest form can be found within the "INFO & FORMS" section of our website.
